There are two SWMPs located in the community, this pond was installed to collect all the rainwater, melted snow and anything else that happens to go down the storm drain. Inside of the fence, is no trespassing, and anyone caught inside the fence line will be prosecuted.
Pond #3389 (Winter Mill Way & Snow Pine Ct):
Our database shows this as a “Shallow Marsh” pond which means it should have a dewatering valve inside of the riser which controls water levels in the pond.
Typically, the valves are left open, and they are treated more of as an “Extended Detention Pond”
Its watershed area is listed as Gwynn Falls, originally built in 1994
Looks like it was “converted” back in 2021 having a gabion sand filter installed upstream of the riser which provides additional water quality removing pollutants such as oils, finer particulates, nutrient runoff, etc.
This facility is a public pond maintained by the county. The department has all public ponds on a 2-year maintenance schedule, however, sometimes it can take longer to get to them depending on how the vendors are assigned ponds and the degree of work to which they require.
Please make sure that you throw all of your trash away in a proper receptacle. Trash that is thrown on the ground, goes into the storm drain and ultimately ends up in one of the ponds.
Pond #3522 (Winter Mill Way & Runnymeade Rd): (Photos Coming)
Database shows it as an Extended Detention Pond meaning it holds higher water volumes during rain events and then dewaters over a 24–72-hour timespan typically
Its watershed area is listed as Gwynn Falls, originally built in 1994
This one also appears to have been converted with a gabion sand filter installed downstream of an inflow which provides additional water quality.
